METALLICA Regrets 'Some Kind of Monster' Documentary

METALLICA's 2004 documentary Some Kind of Monster wasn't intended to turn the spotlight on the division within the band, but it certainly did.  And that's not something the band members are particularly pleased about today.  Drummer LARS ULRICH tells Australia's Herald Sun that the film "has taken on a life of its own. I had to live that s**t for three f**king years! The whole thing was a mindf**k."

Ulrich says that every time he sees OASIS guitarist NOEL GALLAGHER, he "quotes lines from that movie back to me."  He's also aware that the problems Metallica went through aren't unlike problems that plenty of other bands experience, but those bands "weren't necessarily stupid enough to film them like we were and share them with the rest of the world," he says.

These days, Ulrich says that the band members are "having fun and getting along."  He also says it would be surprising to him "if it'd be a year before we start making a new album. There's a good chance the turnaround would be less than it's been on previous cycles."

Metallica will tour Australia this fall before jumping into a recording studio.  You can see all those dates at Metallica.com.
