Minnesota United captain and goalkeeper Dayne St Clair set a team record Tuesday with 16 saves in the 1-0 win over Club Necaxa in Leagues Cup. The United scored the lone goal on a Robin Lod penalty kick in the 10th minute. In the 20th minute, they were reduced to 10 players on the pitch after a red card was given to Hugo Bacharach, which lead to Club Necaxa controlling the ball most of the rest of the game. The Loons will find out on Sunday if they will advance in League Cup play, after the result of other games. They will resume MLS play at home on August 24th against the Seattle Sounders.
