Drummer Josh Freese is set to rejoin Nine Inch Nails, whose current drummer, Ilan Rubin, will now join Foo Fighters. Rubin has also been a member of Tom DeLonge’s Angels & Airwaves since 2011.
Nine Inch Nails have welcomed back Freese, who had previously played with the band from 2005 to 2008 and appeared on 2007’s Year Zero and 2008’s The Slip. The band made the official announcement on social media with a photo of Freese, and the caption “Let’s f*cking GO.”
Ilan Rubin was with Nine Inch Nails from 2008-2009 and again from 2013-2025, and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with the band; becoming the youngest ever inductee at the age of 32.
Both bands are gearing up for major tours, with Nine Inch Nails kicking off their Peel It Back tour in Oakland on August 6th, and will appear at Xcel on August 17th. Foo Fighters embarking on a tour in October with stops in Indonesia, Singapore, Japan and Mexico.
