Fed up with people illegally parking in his business’s driveway, Bruce Kerr, owner of Kerr Solutions IT in Rockhampton, Australia, created a unique solution he calls “instant karma.”
He installed a motion-activated sprinkler system to blast trespassers with water, then began sharing the footage on his viral Rockhampton Chaos TikTok page. The videos show drivers and pedestrians getting soaked, with one memorable instance leading to a worker being fired after his boss saw the timestamped video proving he was in town instead of at a remote job site.
Kerr, who designed the system himself after police and the council couldn’t address the issue, said he installed it because people were using the driveway to get to a neighboring tobacco store and blocking access for his staff, despite clear “no parking” signs. While most people react with good humor, the system has occasionally been vandalized, but Kerr says it has been largely successful in deterring illegal parking and has even become a local tourist attraction.
