Lena Deoliveira was charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault after she allegedly attacked her sleeping boyfriend with a hatchet in Fargo, North Dakota, on September 5. Police responded to the scene after a man reported being assaulted with a weapon. Another man who was present at the time told police he woke up to the victim’s screams and saw Deoliveira swinging the hatchet, describing the sound “like splitting wood” and seeing the victim’s injured head and deeply lacerated fingers.
The victim was taken to the emergency room for surgery on his fingers. Deoliveira was arrested in Moorhead, Minnesota two days later and appeared in Cass County court on September 12. She is charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault. Her next court date is set for October 16.
