ALERT: Outrage after coach and referee get into a brawl and cause chaos at a 6-year-old and younger girls’ flag football game in Massachusetts.
Jeff Etienne, an official for over 20 years, was officiating a game for the Massachusetts Outlaws girls’ flag football team when the coach yelled at him.
Etienne then pushed the coach out of his face, and a fight broke out.
The team stated that the coach was “frustrated with calls being made and was questioning a call about blitzes that were originally in our favor and then flipped to the other team’s favor within the course of one play.”
Etienne says the 2 apoligized to each other when things calmed down and that he should have handled the situation differently.
“Just like many other times that I’ve had coaches yell at me, I’ve walked away from it…. That’s what I should have done. This sort of situation should never happen in youth sports… It should never ever be that serious. We’re not playing for millions of dollars. We’re not playing in the NFL.”
