Deftones are set to release their highly anticipated tenth studio album, private music, on August 22nd via Reprise/Warner Music. This new 11-song LP follows their acclaimed 2020 release, Ohms, and was co-produced by the band and GRAMMY Award-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz, who previously collaborated with Deftones on Diamond Eyes and Koi No Yokan. The album’s lead single, “my mind is a mountain,” offers a first glimpse into their evolved sound.
Recorded in various locations across California and Nashville, private music is described as a lean, masterfully paced collection. The album features the band’s core lineup of Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, Abe Cunningham, and Frank Delgado, alongside touring bassist Fred Sablan. Fans can expect a journey that explores themes of nature’s beauty and peril, the pursuit of a positive mindset, and visions beyond the physical realm, showcasing Deftones at their most refined.
