A Savannah-Chatham County (Georgia) school bus carrying a dozen students and a driver experienced a roadway collapse at an intersection on Wednesday.
The bus’s back wheels dropped into a hole that city officials later attributed to failing stormwater drainage infrastructure around a manhole.
While two students were taken for a check-up, no injuries were reported, and a second bus was dispatched to transport the remaining students.
The intersection remains closed as city crews work to assess and repair the damage, which they have clarified is not a natural sinkhole but rather a man-made cave-in.
